Montserrat always had the reputation of
having few protected anchorages. The
eruption has reduced what there was still
further.
Note The approaches to the S of the
island and Plymouth are prohibited. The
Exclusion Zone extends out 2M from the
coast.
LITTLE BAY
This haven is the port of entry for
Montserrat and, therefore, an obligatory
first stop. The authorities listen out on
VHF 16.

If the wind and swell swing to
the NE it can become rolly and
uncomfortable. The best anchorage is S
of the dock in 3–4m, being sure to leave
manoeuvring room off the dock. The
shoreline is not entirely obvious, so be
cautious. Some buoys available for
pleasure boats.
Ashore In the small port zone you’ll find
the large port office buildings as well as
the police and customs with whom you
can complete formalities.
