          Coast and anchorages
Anegada has much in common with
Barbuda and like it and every other
similar, flat coral island, your approach
to such dangerous shores should only be
made in daylight and good visibility. You
should also be sure to study your charts
carefully before you set out and then
navigate carefully so you know without
            mistake exactly where you’ve made
            landfall.

            Setting Point
This is the most accessible and the most
            popular anchorage. It’s opposite the
            Anegada Reef Hotel between Pomato
and Setting Points. Begin your approach
by heading for the dock off Setting Pt on
060°. The channel is marked by port and
starboard buoys. There’s 3m or so in the
channel and the outer part of the
anchorage, but this decreases to <2m
near the docks. Keeping on going up the
channel to the NW of the bay, you’ll find the best sheltered part of the anchorage.
There are several paying buoy moorings
that make the anchoring area quite small.
Ashore Around the bay from Setting Pt
to near Pomato Pt there are several hotel restaurants on the beach, amongst them
            Neptune’s Treasure.

Most of the establishments monitor VHF 16. All are
relatively small and simple and have
pretty terraces opening onto the beach.
They are regularly invaded by swarms of
day trippers and cruising sailors to whom
they offer seafood menus, the waters of
Anegada still teeming with fish and
lobster. Those establishments aside, there
are a few small knick-knack shops and
basic stop-gap provisions. Fuel and water
is available at the edge of Setting Point.
Raffling Point
Heading up the channel you must make a
large detour to the W to get round the
coral reef off Pomato Point. Between the
latter and Raffling Pt there’s a long sandy
beach. It is almost deserted and is one of
the loveliest and wildest you can get to by
boat in the Virgins. The best anchorage is
N of Pomato Pt where a nick in the
shoals lets you get a bit closer to the
beach. If you go by tender to the S of
Raffling Pt you can have some great
snorkelling on the barrier reef.
Ashore A little way back from the shore
and hidden in the vegetation is a
restaurant serving local specialties.
